About the Minimix: Armin van Buuren has made a brilliant remix leaving out the horn sections and introducing new melody lines and breakbeat parts. This version will probably also appear on a re-release of Styles in february or march this year. (Ben Liebrand)

Grandmix 2001 Vocoder Playlist
Many requests reached Ben to also make the vocoder playlist. Although not such a longlasting tradition as the Grandmix itself, the vocoder playlist has become a much appreciated addition to the Grandmix itself. Using a device called vocoder, Ben voicecodes a sound to be articulated with his own voice, thus creating the legendary robotvoices. |

My Forbidden Guarantee
About the original versions: Again Alcazar takes a danceclassic as the foundation for a their new hit 'Sexual Guarantee. This time it is Chic's Forbidden lover, (special thanks to Frans vd Kamp) a track from the album Dance Dance Dance, that supplies the groove for this disco track. (Ben Liebrand)
About the Minimix: the minimx completely reunites Chic's Forbidden Lover with Alcazar's production of Sexual Guarantee. the track is running more than 12% faster to meet the new musical key, and is timestretched even further to meet the new tempo. This insane high speed however doesn't take long to get used to, and makes it possible to further combine the 2 tracks into a single mix featuring both songs. Wegens drukte van Ben deze week geen minimix en ook de weken daarna niet. Op donderdag 11 april 2002 had Ben Liebrand een gesprek met Radio 538 over onder andere de uitzendingen van de Minimix. Hoe dit is afgelopen is niet bekend, maar het duurde tot 2004 voordat er weer een Minimix op de radio werd uitgezonden... terug bij de oude werkgever Radio Veronica! |
